PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an organic EL display with high reliability by creating a glass composition for sealing which is suitable for local heating by irradiation with laser beams and attains compatibility between low softening characteristics and high water resistance. SOLUTION: The glass composition for sealing includes, as a glass composition, by mol% expressed in terms of the following oxides, 5 to 30% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 31 to 55% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 15 to 55% ZnO and 0.1 to 25% of CuO+Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>+TiO<SB>2</SB>+MnO<SB>2</SB>.
