<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus which compensates a function of a substitutional controller, even when a part of controllers connected to an upper controller via a communication apparatus fails and temporarily connects a substitution controller. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This communication apparatus has: a parameter address conversion part 62, communicatably provided between a PLC (programmable logic controller) 2 and the controllers, compensating interchange of a communication address, by exchanging the controller 3b needing the exchange for the substitution controller 4; a parameter reading/writing substitution function part 63 substituting for the function of the controller after the exchange; and an equivalent function provision function part 64, providing a processed parameter to the controller after the exchange, such that the controller before the exchange and the controller after the exchange have a similar function.
