<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodiode array (PDA) adopting a storage readout method, which can easily set an appropriate charging time for each photodiode (PD) and yet prevent the PDs from being saturated, without using a complicated or expensive method, and to provide and signal readout method for the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the PDA for sequentially reading out signals of (n) pieces of arrayed PDs from the first through n-th PDs, such an operation is performed one or more times, before carrying out full signal readout for sequentially reading out all the signals of all the PDs, as sequentially reading out signals of a predetermined number of PDs starting from the first PD to cancel the signals of these PDs, and then returning to the readout of the signals of the first PD.
