<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternator for a vehicle which can prevent deterioration in the cooling performance and can enhance the waterproof properties, while suppressing increase in the cost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The alternator 1 for a vehicle is equipped with a front housing 6A and a rear housing 6B for storing a stator 2 and a rotor 3. The front housing 6A and the rear housing 6B are each equipped with a plurality of radial windows 61 and 62, which are formed in a radial wall surface 132 and 232, and a wall portion 130 and 230 provided away from the radial windows 61 and 62 outside, in the radial direction of the radial windows 61 and 62.
