<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat sliding device having a small-sized and simplified locking means, and reducing a cost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pair of plumb parts 19c and 19d approximately parallel with each other are formed on a retaining bracket 19 fixed to the oversurface of an upper rail 5 and are furnished with a front inserting hole 19e and a rear inserting hole 19f to admit insertion of an operating lever 23, which has a tip 23a to press a pressing part 15d directly, where a leaf spring 20 to cover the retaining bracket 19 is installed, and the operating lever 23 is pinched by an abutting part 20d of the leaf spring 20 willing to return upward with the spring force and a resin cover 22 set over the front 19e and rear inserting holes 19f. When rotating in the unlocking direction, the operating lever 23 swings round a fulcrum which is the resin cover located in front, and when a force in the counter-unlocking direction is applied, the operating lever 23 swings round a fulcrum which is the resin cover 22 located in the rear.
