<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device that performs excellent tracking control even when there are variations in assembly and adjustment among respective components. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A grating portion GR splits laser beam into a main beam and two sub-beams to irradiate parts between the track of an optical disk D and a track adjacent to the track, and a differential push-pull signal is generated from reflected beams. When setting one rotation of the optical disk D to a cycle T, an arithmetic unit 76 computes (M-N)/(M+N), where M and N are amplitudes of the differential push-pull signal measured at timing positions (m) and (n) where amplitudes of highest-frequency parts in every T/2 cycle of the differential push-pull signal are measured by a timing specification unit 75, and positioning control of the actuator 17 of an optical pickup 3 is carried out so that the result becomes 0, thereby performing stable tracking control.
