<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square element generation technique capable of automatically generating a square element with high accuracy in shape with respect to a round shape, a fan shape, or an elliptical shape. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A square element generating device includes: a shape determining means 11 for determining whether the shape of a surface, where the square element has to be generated, in shape data coincides with a predetermined model shape (the round shape, the fan shape, or the elliptical shape); a dividing means 12 for dividing the surface, where the square element has to be generated, into divided ranges to be surrounded by four sides when it is determined that the shape of the surface, where the square element is to be generated, meets the predetermined model shape by the shape determining means 11; and a mesh generating means 13 for generating the square elements in the respective dividing ranges under a predetermined mesh condition.
