PROJECTOR AND LUMINANCE ADJUSTMENT METHOD

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that is comfortably used by a user while a projector body and an image output device perform relative rotational operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: a projector body 2; a DVD player 3; and switches 61A and 61B for detecting a relative rotational operation of the projector body 2 and the DVD player 3. The projector body 2 includes a control means 26 and the control means 26 includes a rotational operation recognition portion 261 and a luminance adjusting portion 262. The rotational operation recognition portion 261 recognizes whether the projector body 2 and the DVD player 3 are in a relative rotational operation state based on the conditions of the switches 61A and 61B, and the luminance adjusting portion 262 adjusts the luminance of light emitted from a projection lens 22 when the rotational operation recognition portion 261 has recognized that the projector body 2 and the DVD player 3 are in the relative rotational operation state.
