The channel (1) has a channel body (10), and frames (20, 20') fastened to upper edges (12, 12') of the channel body. Each upper edge has an angular section with a horizontal section and a vertical section for receiving a cover (2). The frames are designed such that they enclose the vertical sections. The respective vertical section has a receiving space in which a retaining section snaps the frames during mounting of the frames on the upper edges. A fixing element is deformed such that the fixing element contacts another receiving space after the deformation.
