<p>A virtual tape drive which interposes between a host (3) and a tape drive (2) for accessing a physical tape volume and stores data transmitted from the host (3) in a logical tape volume. The virtual tape drive comprises a data communication section (10) for receiving the data transmitted from the host, a RAID drive (13) constructing the logical tape volume for storing the data, a management table (30) for managing the attribute information of the data stored in the physical tape volume, a position determining section (31) for determining the writing start position in writing the data stored in the logical tape volume to the physical tape volume on the basis of the management table (30), and a drive control unit (12) for writing the data in the logical tape volume to the physical tape volume according to the result of the determination.</p> |
