<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical balloon and a balloon catheter which have high pressure resistance and are excellent in peripheral accessibility so as to be easily advanced into a peripheral blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: The balloon 800 is formed of a composite material comprising high modulus short fiber 801 for reinforcement and matrix resin 802. Each fiber of the high modulus short fiber 801 is arranged in a nonaligned state into the balloon 800, and almost uniformly dispersed in the balloon 800. At least most short fiber 801a of the short fiber 801 is oriented in an almost definite oblique direction with respect to the longer axis direction.
