<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical phase control technique for an optical receiver capable of searching for a signal communication point in a shorter time than heretofore. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receiver includes: delay interferometers 51a and 51b respectively provided in two branches that branch a reception signal; phase shift amount control means 51c and 51d that control the phase shift amount of the delay interferometers in accordance with an optical phase control value; a balanced optical detecting section 52 that respectively photoelectrically converts respective branch signals output from the delay interferometers; a data regenerating section 53 that regenerates transmission data from the photoelectrically converted branch signals output from the balanced optical detecting section; a control section 60 that outputs the optical phase control value based on a signal of the data regenerating section; and a memory 61 that stores a control value history storing the optical phase control value output from the control section at the time of signal communication.
