<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit and an image program system, performing efficient backup of image data. <P>SOLUTION: The image data obtained by reading manuscripts are stored in a memory of the image processing unit. The entire image data stored in the memory are fully backed up. After the full backup, among the image data stored in the memory of the image processing unit, only the increments of the image data newly stored after the full backup are incrementally backed up at a predetermined frequency.
