PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for driving a diaphragm, capable of reducing power consumption by controlling a driving current of a diaphragm motor based on a difference in spring constant of a spring means of a diaphragm mechanism contained in a photographing lens of a camera with interchangeable lenses. SOLUTION: The device for driving the diaphragm for a camera with interchangeable lenses including a photographing lens provided with a diaphragm mechanism including a lens-side spring means for performing a stop-down operation, a diaphragm motor for performing stop-down operation of the photographing lens, and a camera body provided with a diaphragm driving mechanism including a body-side spring means includes a current control means for controlling the driving current to be supplied to the diaphragm motor according to the spring constant of the lens-side spring means. The driving current of the diaphragm motor is variably controlled according to the difference in spring force of the lens-side spring means, thereby a wasteful driving current is controlled to reduce the power consumption.
