PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication module and an optical communication module wherein projected portions are provided with a required spring property. SOLUTION: The optical communication module 1 includes a light transmitting assembly 301, a light receiving assembly 302, a circuit board 304, a connector 307, and a casing 2. At least a surface of the casing 2 is composed of a conductive material, projected portions 3 formed integrally with the casing 2 have a prescribed thickness and the casing 2 has a portion having plate thickness t2 thicker than the thickness t1 of the projected portions 3.
