<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem that there is no means for protruding a reproducing element even though a recording element is protruded by heat generated by a coil when writing, and that protruding quantity and timing cannot be optionally controlled when heat is generated by using laser light for carrying out thermally assisted recording. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A light absorbing member 91 and thermal expansion member are formed in the vicinity of the reproducing element and then the reproducing element 22 is protruded by irradiating the light absorbing member 91 with the light. Alternatively, the light absorbing members 90 and 91 which absorb the light with different wavelengths and thermal expansion member are formed in the vicinity of the recording element and in the vicinity of the reproducing element 22 and then respective protruding quantities of the recording element and reproducing element 22 are individually and optionally controlled by switching the wavelength and intensity of the radiated light.
