An image sensor for a touch screen, which is installed at the edge of the touch screen and contains an image sensing unit and an optical imaging system, wherein the optical imaging system contains: at least two mutually separated lenses to compose at least two optical paths, wherein, each lens is composed of convex and concave lenses and the field lens of each lens is faced to the touch screen, the convergence area of the vision field of the field lens can cover the touch screen, the touch object on the touch screen is imaged separately by each optical path of the optical imaging system, and the formed image is projected on the image sensing unit. The image sensor can realize the locating of the touch object by utilizing the stereo camera function. Moreover, the optical imaging system can utilize electronic shutters which are mutually locked to realize the time division multiplexing of the different optical paths for the image sensing unit, or utilize the independent optical path to realize the area division multiplexing of the image sensing unit.
