PURPOSE: A field emission type light source and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve uniformity of luminance of a light source by applying a uniform electric potential to a phosphor layer. CONSTITUTION: A phosphor layer(5) generates a visible light. The phosphor layer includes a phosphor and a metal oxide. The phosphor is excited by an accelerated electron. A field emission type light source generates a visible light of a white color by mixing phosphors of red, green, and blue. The phosphor has an irregular shape. The metal oxide flattens a surface of the phosphor layer by filling an air gap inside the phosphor layer. The metal oxide includes one or more materials selected in groups composed of TiO2, SiO2, Al2O3, and MgO. The phosphor layer is formed on a top part of an anode electrode(1) through a screen printing method.
