<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device wherein no useless time is expended when the individual situation of an optical disk is detected to determine a reference value for focus control, and its focus control method. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 14 sets the recording quality of first test data based on a standard focus value as a first evaluation value based on a first recording quality evaluation index, the recording quality of the first test data as a second evaluation value based on a second recording quality evaluation index if the first evaluation value is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold value, the recording quality of second test data based on a first corrected focus value obtained by adding a predetermined value to the standard focus value as a third evaluation value based on the second recording quality evaluation index, the recording quality of third test data based on a second corrected focus value obtained by subtracting a predetermined value from the standard focus value as a fourth evaluation value based on the second recording quality evaluation index, and compares the second evaluation value, the third evaluation value and the fourth evaluation value with one another to perform test recording again by using one of the first corrected focus value and the second corrected focus value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
