<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell in which performance can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is equipped with a membrane electrode structure having an electrolyte membrane, an anode catalyst layer formed on one face of the electrolyte membrane, and a cathode catalyst layer formed on the other face of the electrolyte membrane, and a separator equipped with a plurality of flow passages in which fluid is circulated. In the plurality of flow passages, a plurality of supply flow passages in which the fluid supplied to the membrane electrode structure is circulated, and a plurality of exhaust flow passages in which the fluid exhausted from the membrane electrode structure is circulated are equipped. In the supply flow passages and the exhaust flow passages, entrances or exits are closed, and the aperture width of the supply flow passages and the exhaust flow passages of the separator equipped on the faces opposing to the membrane electrode structure are narrower than the average width of the respective flow passages of the supply flow passages and the exhaust flow passages, while apertures equipped at the supply flow passages and the exhaust flow passages opposed to the outer circumferential side region of the membrane electrode structure are respectively equipped closer toward the outer peripheral side of the membrane electrode structure than toward the center of the respective flow passages of the supply flow passages and the exhaust flow passages. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
