<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve estimation accuracy in a PM sedimentation quantity of a filter, in a black smoke elimination device of a diesel engine. <P>SOLUTION: This diesel engine 5 includes a first estimating means for estimating a particulate matter (PM) sedimentation quantity in the black smoke elimination device based on filter differential pressure, a second estimating means for estimating the PM sedimentation quantity of the black smoke elimination device based on an operation history of at least an engine, a PM discharge quantity or a PM regeneration quantity in the black smoke elimination device, and a PM sedimentation quantity estimating means for estimating the PM sedimentation quantity by selectively using the first estimating means or the second estimating means based on a first engine operation state. The PM sedimentation quantity estimating means uses the first estimating means after continuously using the second estimating means for a predetermined time when switched to the first estimating means from the second estimating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
