<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery method for efficiently recovering a noble metal from a noble metal-containing base material without using acid having high oxidizing power. <P>SOLUTION: The recovery method includes: a stage S10 where the noble metal and a recovery medium metal(s) are brought into contact with each other to form a noble metal alloy on a base material; and a stage S11 where the noble metal alloy-containing base material is subjected to dry extraction treatment, for extracting a noble metal. For the base material containing Ru or the compound thereof, as the recovery medium metal(s), one or more active metals selected from Ca, Mg, Na, K, Li and Zn are used, so as to form the noble metal alloy.
