<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction cooker of inexpensive structure capable of accurately detecting the temperature of a pan placed on a top plate and capable of controlling power to be supplied to a heating coil. <P>SOLUTION: The induction cooker includes: a heating coil 3 for heating a heated material; a top plate 2, which is provided above the heating coil 3 and on which the heated material is to be placed; an infrared ray sensor 12 provided under the heating coil 3 to detect infrared rays radiated from the heated material; a heat insulating plate 19 covering a light receiving surface 12a of the infrared ray sensor 12 and having an infrared ray transmitting characteristic; a temperature computing means 21 for computing the temperature of the heated material based on an output of the infrared ray sensor 12; and a control means 22 for controlling power to be supplied to the heating coil 3 in response to an output of the temperature computing means 21. The control means 22 controls an output of the heating coil 3 by detecting the temperature of the heated material based on the output of the infrared ray sensor 12.
