PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially simply and safely producing a thiazole compound. SOLUTION: Provided is the method for producing the thiazole compound represented by formula (3) (wherein, R1 is H or a 1 to 4C alkyl group which may be substituted; R2 is H, a 1 to 4C alkyl group which may be substituted, or a 1 to 5C alkoxycarbonyl group which may be substituted), characterized by reacting an α-haloketone compound represented by a specific structural formula with ammonium dithiocarbamate and then reacting the obtained 2-mercaptothiazole compound with an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent.
