<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit capable of suppressing cost increase and operating speed reduction when two image processing blocks are operated in parallel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a main imaging mode, a Bayer image for one frame is divided in the vertical direction, and a Bayer image A after the division is stored into a DRAM 5, and also a Bayer image B after the division is stored into a DRAM 6. After colorization process and JPEG compression process are performed on the respective Bayer images A, B, each JPEG image is integrated and recorded into a recording medium 8. In a through image display mode, a Bayer image for one frame is divided in the horizontal direction, and a Bayer image C after the division is stored into the DRAM 5, and also a Bayer image D after the division is stored into the DRAM 6.
