<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of preventing the occurrence of faulty transfer caused by waviness of an intermediate transfer belt. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus, color toner images formed on a plurality of photoreceptor drums (image carriers) 2a are sequentially superposed on the endless intermediate transfer belt 7 and primarily transferred to form a color image, and the color image is collectively secondarily transferred from the intermediate transfer belt 7 to recording material. When a waviness amount of the intermediate transfer belt 7 is defined as ΔL (mm) and thickness thereof is defined as t (mm), a winding angle θ of the intermediate transfer belt 7 round the photoreceptor drum 2a when seen from the center of the photoreceptor drum 2a is set to satisfy relation of ΔL<t×θ÷10.
