PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a tool including two sockets (outer and inner sockets) with different diameters and capable of being used conveniently. SOLUTION: The socket 10 for the tool comprises the inner socket 21, a socket body 20 having a first tubular part 22 and a tool joint 23, a socket outer tube 30 having an outer socket 31 and a second tubular portion 32 and slidably disposed over an outer peripheral surface of the inner socket 21, and a ring spring 40. On an outer peripheral surface of the first tubular part 22, a first ring spring fitting groove 25 and a second ring spring fitting groove 24 are disposed sequentially from the side near the inner socket 21. A ring spring storage groove 33 is formed on an inner peripheral surface of the second tubular part 32. The ring spring 40 is constantly stored in the ring spring storage groove 33. When the ring spring 40 is moved to a position of the first ring spring fitting groove 24, the outer socket 31 is usable, whereby when the ring spring 40 is moved to the second ring spring fitting groove 25, the inner socket 21 is usable.
