The guide (1) has an arcuate sheet metal part with which two end edges (12) are merged together in an edge-to-edge manner. The end edges are fixed together by a laser welding spot. The end edges are comb-shaped so that the end edges mutually mate with each other. The guide has material thickness of 0.5 millimeters. Two recesses have a rectangular cross-section and receive a carbon brush. The sheet metal part is arranged in one of the recesses. The end edges have teeth (13) including undercuts. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a carbon guide.
