PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an aluminum alloy casting and a mold for using in this method by which after forming the casting in the inner part of the mold, at a part of the casting, before separating from the mold, a heat-treatment can be applied by accurately controlling the treating temperature and the treating time. SOLUTION: In the inner part of the mold 10, an insert mold 101 and an insert mold 102, are accommodated. Wherein, the insert molds 101, 102, respectively have the shapes for forming a part of the shape of the casting together with an upper mold 12 and a lower mold 11. Also, the insert molds 101, 102, form a salt flowing path 111. Further, a molten metal is cast into the mold 10 and successively, a salt is made to flow in the salt flowing path 111. This salt temperature is made to be the same as or the little higher than a solution-treatment temperature of the molten alloy. In this way, the temperature of local heat-treatment objective position 301 is held to the solution-treatment temperature. Further, the desired solution-treatment time can be set by adjusting the flowing time of the salt. After this heat-treatment, the casting is separated from the mold. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
