PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion composition improved in skin occlusion, excellent in use feelings in spite of a sufficient content of vaseline for reducing transpiration of water from the skin, able to give sufficient water to the skin, having a persistent and satisfactory skin-moisturizing effect and exhibiting both low stimulation and storage stability, and an emulsion composition having mite-repellent activity. SOLUTION: The emulsion composition comprises (A) vaseline, (B) lecithin, (C) glycerol, (D) water and (E) a water-soluble polymer, wherein the content of vaseline (A) is 10-30 wt.% based on 100 wt.% of the emulsion composition and the average particle size of the inner phase of the emulsion composition measured by a dynamic light scattering method on the basis of dynamic light scattering theory is≤800 nm. The method for preparing the emulsion composition has a process for emulsifying a mixture comprising 10-30 wt.% (A) vaseline, (B) lecithin, (C) glycerol, (D) water and (E) the water-soluble polymer.
