<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect resource shortages due to various causes occurring on monitored computers before problems emerge, and automatically appropriately handle expected resource shortages. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A resource monitoring system has the function of notifying events occurring on monitored computers as events, the function of acquiring resource usage information and storing and analyzing the acquired information when such an event is received, means for predicting a resource usage after the event from the analysis result, and means for executing an action, such as the allocation of an additional resource or the distribution of processing to another computer, if the predicted resource usage exceeds a preset threshold or an available resource on the computer.
