摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for determining the necessity of valve adjustment for an assembled engine without using a special sensor, and also to provide a technique for measuring a valve opening crank angle width. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A storage section 36 of the engine inspection apparatus 100 stores the correlation between an increment in the number of revolutions of a crankshaft in the duration from the time when combustion occurs in one cylinder to the time when combustion occurs in the next cylinder and a crank angle width while a valve is open. A measuring section 32 measures the number of revolutions of the crankshaft 24 while driving an engine 10 by providing it with a nearly constant target number of revolutions. A determination section 38 outputs a determination result that valve adjustment is required when the increment in the number of revolutions in the duration from the time when combustion occurs in one cylinder to the time when combustion occurs in the next cylinder falls outside predetermined tolerance.
