The invention relates to an in vitro method for the detection of bacteria of the Salmonella sp. genus, comprising a quantitative polymerase chain reaction using specific primers for this disease and DNA and RNA samples from the microorganisms. Said method is suitable for use in the detection of viable and non-viable microorganisms of Salmonella sp. in environmental, clinical and food samples. The invention also relates to a kit used to carry out said method.
