PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new polynucleotides encoding immunogenic HIV polypeptides.

SOLUTION: New polynucleotides encoding immunogenic HIV polypeptides are provided. Use of the polynucleotides in applications including immunization, production of packaging cell lines, and production of HIV polypeptides is also provided. Polynucleotides encoding antigenic HIV polypeptides are provided, as is use of these polynucleotides and polypeptide products therefrom (including formulations of immunogenic compositions and use thereof). In specific embodiments, synthetic polynucleotides and/or expression cassettes, encoding HIV polypeptides, are provided.
