<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a window having a window frame which instantaneously exhibits damping effect and prevents impact sound from occurring and which enables the simplification of working steps during the installation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This window includes an upper frame (window frame member) 1, generally wedge-shaped through members 2a, 2b having respective cross sections convergent to the outdoor side, damping members 3a, 3b attached to both sides of the depth surface of the through members, respectively, and bolts (pressing means) 4a, 4b. The upper frame includes generally wedge-shaped hollow sections 5a, 5b into which the through members are inserted, respectively. The bolts press the through members to the outdoor side of the upper frame, respectively. The damping members are pressed against the depth surface of the upper frame and the depth surfaces of the through members. Since the through members and the damping members are installed on the upper frame, the mass of the upper frame is increased, and since the damping members are pressed against the upper frame by the through members, a tension is applied to the upper frame and the rigidity of the upper frame is increased. Therefore, the vibration of the upper frame is suppressed, and the noise thereof is reduced. Since the vibration is suppressed by increasing the mass and the rigidity of the upper frame, much time is not required by a time when the damping effect is exhibited.
