PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly of a square core and a hub square hole easily machinable and firmly fitted to each other without allowing the square core to rattle in the square hole. SOLUTION: In this assembly 10 of the square core 2 and the square hole 11 with an elastic member 3 interposed between the square core 2 and the inner surface of the square hole 11 of a hub 1, a recessed groove 15 is longitudinally formed in one flat surface of the square hole 11. The elastic member 3 comprises a linear member having a circular arcuate long side section and both end short side sections 32a, 32b formed by bending both ends of the long side section at a predetermined angle in the directions opposite to each other. A gap is formed between the bottom surface of the recessed groove 15 and the arcuate long side section. The arcuate long side section is so fixed to the recessed groove 15 as to be formed in a tilted shape connecting the opposing corners of the recessed groove 15 when viewed from above.
