The method involves positioning a processing unit i.e. inkjet printing device (17), at a desired position on a surface of a printing web (14), and/or in a printing side of a printing product. Processing performed by the processing unit on the surface is detected by a camera (22) associated with the processing unit. An image acquired by the camera is displayed, stored and/or evaluated. The measured image is compared online with a reference model. A control pulse for the camera and/or a camera flash is determined.
