<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent evaporation and leakage of a liquid held for application at a liquid application mechanism of an inkjet printer. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid is held by butting of an application roller 1001 and a liquid holding member 2001 against each other. The liquid is applied by the application roller 1001 to a recording medium. In this case, the application roller 1001 is made a surface state without dents and projections to form a film of the liquid at the recording medium.
