PURPOSE: A protection method of a starting clutch is provided to prevent damage to the starting clutch by activating a starting clutch protection function when an estimated equivalent temperature exceeds the critical temperature. CONSTITUTION: A protection method of a starting clutch comprises a step of calculating the friction temperature of the starting clutch(S18), a step of calculating the cooling temperature of the starting clutch(S20), a step of estimating the equivalent temperature of the starting clutch by subtracting the friction and cooling temperatures of the starting clutch(S22), and a step of activating a starting clutch protective function when the equivalent temperature of the starting clutch exceeds the critical temperature(S24,S26).
