PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct over exposure or under exposure to backlight to acquire natural images when processing color images based on data acquired from image information of digital cameras. SOLUTION: A plurality of series of color images are acquired with changing exposure for the same scene. For an image position, an image whose the color appearance frequency is low, is determined to be a proper exposed image from the plurality of color images. Using a frequency image obtained by replacing a color value of an original color image with its color appearance frequency, the ratio of color appearance frequency is calculated for every part of the image for the two color images, and then the ratio of blending is acquired so that less frequent one is more blended than higher frequent one according to the ratio of color appearance frequency. Subsequently, a blending ratio map is created for the whole of the image, and the two color images are blended for every part according to the blending ratio map to create a one exposure corrected image.
