摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation polarizing plates by improving their cooling efficiency of on the incident side and emission side of a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: Polarizing plates 10, 15 and 23 on the incident side of liquid crystal panels 11, 16 and 24 for red, green and blue and polarizing plates 12, 17 and 25 on the emission side are formed by adhering a polarizing film 33 to a glass substrate 31 formed in the shape of a rectangular tube without bottom. Since the surface area of the glass substrate increases, the heat generated from the polarizing film is easily radiated, and cooling efficiency enhances. The temperature rise of the polarizing plate is suppressed, the degradation of the polarizing performance is suppressed and the shortening of the service life of the polarizing plate by increase in luminance of the liquid crystal projector is suppressed. The heat release can also be facilitated by forming the glass substrate in a rectangular tube shape with a bottom, enclosing a refrigerant liquid inside, and dispersing the heat by the convection current of the refrigerant.
