PURPOSE: An edge type backlight unit is provided to perform a process simply and improve the optical performance and outer appearance. CONSTITUTION: A light guide plate(110) is located at a side of a linear light source. An engraved or embossed prism pattern is formed at a lower side of the light guide plate in the direction parallel to the linear light source. A prism pattern is formed at an upper side of the light guide plate in the direction vertical to the linear light source. The light guide plate converts the light emitted from the linear light source into the planar light. A reflective plate(150) is located below the light guide plate to reflect the light which is incident from the rear side of the light guide plate to the front side. One optical sheet(120) offers a diffusion function and a light condensing function. |
