PURPOSE: An agent containing fibroblast growth factor-2(FGF2) or basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) for preventing or treating asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is provided to treat or prevent fibrosis, asthma and COPD. CONSTITUTION: An agent for preventing or treating contains FGF2(Fibroblast Growth Factor-2) as an active ingredient. Asthma is induced by overexpression of IL-13(Interleukin-13) and IFN-γ(Interferon-γ). The FGF2 suppresses the expression of IL-13 and VEGF(Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) and the activation of TGF-β1(transforming growth factor-beta 1).
