The disclosure relates to the use of guanidinoacetic acid or the salts thereof as feed additive for breeding and growing livestock in predominantly vegetarian diets to improve feed uptake, to increase growth performance, muscle meat gain, meat quality or reproduction performance. The feed additive can also be used in combination with salts of hydrochloric acid, hydrogen bromide acid and phosphoric acid. Further disclosed is the use of the guanidinoacetic acid in individual doses of 0.01 to 100 g/kg in the form of powder, granulates, pellets or capsules. |
