Prefabricated modular tower

A modular tower to be used as a support for wind generators makes use of reduced-thickness prefabricated modules of reinforced concrete and of a limited number of different shapes and sizes with smooth outer walls 9 and internal reinforcing horizontal ribs 11 and vertical stiffeners 12. Like modules are arranged laterally edge to edge to make one tapered section of the tower, and the total tower height is made up of a bottom section, a middle section, and a top section. The laterally arranged modules of each section are held together by tensioned circumferential steel cables passing through the horizontal ribs and the sections are held together by tensioned vertical steel cables passing through the vertical stiffeners. Towers up to 100 metres high can be quickly erected using just a few of two or three different shaped modules, each about 35 metres long.
