摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to improve display quality in conventional liquid crystal display devices. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a first substrate 51; a second substrate 81 facing the first substrate 51; liquid crystal 19 interposed between the first substrate 51 and the second substrate 81; and a diffuse reflection layer 53 diffuse-reflecting light incident to the liquid crystal 19 through the second substrate 81, to the second substrate 81 side. The liquid crystal 19 is controlled in driving for each of a plurality of pixels 7, and a transmission region T for transmission display and a reflection region H for reflection display, are set to each pixel 7. The first substrate 51 has a first surface 54a which is on the liquid crystal 19 side, and a second surface 54b on the side opposite to the first surface 54a.
