<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal film which prevents the formation of ring-shaped defects often generated in a liquid crystalline compound layer to be formed on a lengthy substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal film having 3 defect portions or less per square meter, the defective portion having a diameter of not smaller than 50 μm is obtained by applying a solution containing a liquid crystal composition comprising at least a liquid crystalline compound and a 0.01-10 mass%, based on the amount of liquid crystalline compound, surfactant having a perfluoroalkyl group, onto a substrate, orienting the liquid crystal composition, and setting the orientation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
