<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which does not decrease the visibility of an image and a watermark, overlaid with each other by forming an image of low density, in an area close to an area where the watermark and the image are overlaid with each other. <P>SOLUTION: In the main processing, a formation area where a boundary image is formed is determined (S11), the density of the boundary image which is thinner than the density of a main image and an additional image is determined (S12); and after the formation area of the boundary image is determined in the step S11, the boundary image is generated, having a size matching the size of the formation area and the density determined in the step S12 (S13), thereby generating a composite image to be printed on a recording form, on the basis of the setting contents set in steps S10 to S13 (S14).
