<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure region to far place in a narrow range near the front surface and to a laterally-wide covering region in near field using a single radar, without significantly increasing the calculation resources. <P>SOLUTION: This radar device comprises an oscillation section 2 for generating a transmission signal, a distributing section 3, a transmitting antenna section 4, a receiving antenna section 5 for receiving the electromagnetic waves reflected from a target, a transmission/reception mixing section 6, an A/D-converting section 7 for converting the transmission/reception mixing signal into digital quantity, a complex spectrum generating section 9 for acquiring a complex spectrum of the transmission/reception mixing data, a means 20 for applying complex operation to the complex spectrum, to form a covering region as a region capable of detecting the target, a memory 8, signal detecting sections 12a and 12b for detecting the target in the covering region, and a target information calculating section 13 for acquiring the position and speed information on the detected target.
