<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a video camera having two recording media based on conventional techniques that the recording of a decisive scene may be missed since it is uncertain which recording medium is subjected to recording in a mode to be activated upon power-on or it is uncertain whether the recording medium is recordable or not. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The loaded state and the remaining amount of recording media are checked upon activation so that activation can be carried out a the state that video recording can be reliably carried out after power-on. In addition, a dedicated power-on button for carrying out activation after carrying out such a checking process is prepared.
